•    Tuesday, June 2nd 7pm Garlic: Eat. Stink. Be Proud. Presented by Seth Wochensky
Garlic supposedly sprung up in Satan’s left footprint as he left the garden of Eden. Good thing he split because there can be no paradise without garlic. This workshop will cover a little history, culinary uses, scapes, cultivation techniques appropriate for an urban intensive garden, harvesting, grading and storage.
•   Thursday, June 4th, Gardening with Native Perennials with Ellen Folts
A slide presentation that helps gardeners visualize using many interesting and different native perennials in their gardens, and includes some actual plants. Ellen Folts owns and operates Amanda’s Garden native perennial nursery, located in Springwater New York.
•    Saturday, June 20th 2pm. Don and Diann Zinteck – Garden Photography
Don and Diann Zinteck will discuss and demonstrate some of their photography techniques of taking pictures in your own garden. As photographer of the recently published Garden Walk of Buffalo book, understanding lighting, lenses, and your own equipment will put you on the right tract to better garden photographs. We will demonstrate some photography techniques by taking some photos at Urban Roots that day.
•    Saturday, June 13th 2pm. Shopping Cart Victory Gardens
. Plant your vegetables in a mobile garden. A recycled garden project. Must RSVP to attend. Six shopping cart victory gardens will be assembled. There is a sliding scale donation of $5 to $25 per garden. If you would like to attend call the store or email [email protected]. If you would like to make a donation and take a shopping cart victory garden home, please let us know when you register/rsvp.
•    Saturday, July 11th at 10am – Ferns, Ferns, Everywhere!! with Colleen O’Neill
Are you looking for an accent plant for the shade? Need a groundcover for a dry area? Or just need to add some pizzazz to your pots? Join Colleen, local plant propagator, in a discussion about ferns, “the Queen of Green.” Learn about hardy, perennial ferns for shade, sun, moist or dry gardens. Get some fresh ideas about combining ferns in pots or discover a few native ferns to spice up your shade.
